    Flashes compatible with Canon

Right now we list 40+ flash units from brands other than Canon which are Canon-compatible. See here for the current list.

WOW, I didn't realize there were so many non-Canon flash units that work with Canon cameras with e-ttl. Thanks for the info.

Henry - Nice to see you here. I'm a number one fan of B&H. Not only good prices, but GREAT customer service. When not buying from my local Canon dealer, (good prices also & they know me...) I use B&H.

I've got a 580EX and a 580EXII, but I recently met a guy with a Nissin di866. This light has a secondary fill flash (like the $500 Metz) to use when bouncing the main flash, power comparable to the 580, a color menu control panel which you can actually understand without the manual, and the ability to lock the panel from accidental button pushes. Sells for $250 at B&H. I tried it briefly at a photo club meeting, and the results of bounce with the secondary flash set at 1/8 power, were impressive. Oh, and the external power for the 580EX (both the $150 Canon and the $65 flashzebra.com models) fit this flash.

I don't even need another flash and I'm tempted!

That's the Nissin Di866 Digital Flash For Canon D-SLRs, for anyone who's interested.

So are all of these true E-TTL II compatible or just TTL?

Will Radiopoppers work with any of them?

Will this work with the wireless system on the 7D?

I too have the Nissin Di866 for use with my 7D. I've only been able to get it to fire wirelessly by firing the 7D built in flash so far. I'm not sure if I'm missing something obvious. I have set the wireless option to fire only the external flash, but that hasn't worked for me as yet.

I did notice that on the Nissin web site there is a mention of "firmware" shown next to the 7D in the compatibility list, but I can't seem to find anywhere to download what I assume is a firmware upgrade for the flash (http://www.nissindigital.com/2009/11...ibility-c.html).

I am thinking about getting an ETTL cord if I can't get this working. I like the look of the one from FlashZebra, but I guess it will take a while to reach the UK, and I'm not sure how much shipping will cost.

Shipping from Flashzebra to Australia takes about a week; I can't see it taking any longer to the get to UK. Hope that helps.
