High speed sync for Alien Bee

I found this on Utube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWm3i3f3pOc
Radio Popper can do high speed sync with the AB800. Used a PX on camera and JRX on the AB.
    Thought that was interesting.
I think there are several more demos on Utube.
    any comments.

Cool, I'm sure the power output is reduced but does anyone know by how much.
What shutter speed did they manage?

With a 7D, 580ex II, and a Radiopopper PX transmitter, I have been able to shoot at 1/8000 of a second. On the Alien Bee, I have a Radiopopper JrX Studio unit. It is anything but an easy setup, but it does work. I had a to do a lot of tests, but ultimately have found that I not only have to set the strobe to Hi-Speed, but I also have to set the camera. Additionally, all strobe power levels must be set through the clumsy Radiopopper PX settings.

The biggest problem I have found in doing the Hi-Speed sync is that I also have a lot of Nikon strobes with JrX Studio remotes hooked up to. I cannot get them to fire with high speed sync. Tomorrow I will be testing this with a 580exII and a RP JrX receiver.

I have switched over from Nikon three months ago, and I must say, Canon's are great cameras, but the strobes fall way short of the Nikon's in terms of ease of use.
