    shooting tethered

    attended speedliting in atlanta--Syl mentioned "active relay usb cable"???? and , "right angle mini usb adapter"??? right/left angled or handed???

    any ideas re specific cables and providers??

    i shoot canon 5d2

    This is the extension cable that I use. I have two and they work very well. I am not familiar with the right angle mini sub adapter. I shoot with a 5d2 as well. I simply connect the usb that came with the camera to this extension cable and shoot away. I love it.

    Its actually simple when using Aperture or canon's EOS Utility. I prefer the Aperture method, but there are others besides the 2 I listed.

    Just be aware the USB 2.0 limitation is 15', (5 meters). Any longer than that and you will get timing issues. I have heard that you can go past 15' by using powered usb hubs to a length of 60' using 4 USB powered hubs. (one USB Powered Hub every 15'). I havent tried that but it seems plausible.

    The cable you need is a USB type A to USB type B (regular USB to mini USB)
