What do you use the pop up for?

Seeing as this is the only section of the Speedliting forums that doesn't have a post I thought I'd be a jerk and ruin it's clean streak. (oops, looks like the gang lights section is now the only one)

I know people use the pop-up from time to time, what do you use it for?

I'm thinking it's good for fill close up.

Try this on. You've just put in a 10 Hr. day shooting a wedding and as you're all packed up and just about ready to leave the Mother of the Bride says, "Oh wait! Could you maybe get a few more shots of... whatever!" Naturally I'm going to give it a quick shot or two with with my trusty
"Pop-Up!" (and of course whatever ambient light I can grab) The customer's always right ya know. lol

When I shot with a 40D I used the pop up to trigger an old set of Speedotron strobes. I had regular old household extension cord and an HH optical trigger. Worked ok. Other than that I avoided the pop up as much as possible. When I was forced to use it, I carried an old opaque white 35mm film cannister that I had slit lengthwise to slip over the top and act as a diffuser. Better than full-on direct flash, but nowhere near as nice as OCF.

It doesn't get the chance to pop up or fire as I have my wireless radio trigger mounted in the hot shoe, unless I have my 430 ex II mounted there. Otherwise, I'd rather shoot natural light.

The pop-up has two uses for me (with the 7D), to wirelessly control 580EX's and for close fill flash (at -2) as you suggested.

I rarely use the pop up flash, but it does occasionally come in handy. Fill light on a sunny day (when traveling lite) is one use for it.

My current camera doesn't have one. I never used the pop up flash with my previous camera - always preferred off camera flash.

I use it only for taking snapshots.
