LIDLIPS: Lessons I Didn't Learn In Photo School
That's a cool article. Very informative. Do you know if there are any side by side tests that are more recent than 5 years old? I just wonder if there are newer, better batteries or chargers now.
Everyone I know speaks very highly of Sanyo's Eneloop rechargeables. I've got a few AA sets and love the fact that a) they come pre-charged, b) hold 85% of their charge for a year, and c) just keep going long after the alkalines are out of juice.

I use Energizers and the Energizer charger. These seem to work well, but I don't have anything to compare them too. I guess the next time I need new batteries, I'll try the eneloops.

Powerex 2700mAH is my choice, with a high quality charger.

I just changed over to Eneloops a month or so back after doing a bit of reading around, and I have to say I love them. They hold their charge well, the flashes seem to recycle much more rapidly and they're not uber expensive.

I use the Powerex 2700mAH myself. Good info on that article. I have had zero issues with my Powerexs, they last a long time, refresh quickly and seem to hold a charge after them have been in the bag for a bit of time.
I also think my great results with battery performance has been due to using the MAHA charger with the soft charge, works great for me.
I have been using the energizers for about 2 years or so, along with the energizer rapid charger. Lately it seems that some of my cells are going bad. Is that a common occurance? Do they just wear out like that?
They do just wear out. It's my plan to start replacing my Energizers as they wear out. I will replace them in batches of 4 and will be able to see if I notice a difference in performance. The Powerex 2700's are what I will be buying.
