No problems with 5D MkII, 580EXII, and new PW's
My Pocket Wizard Mini TT1 and Flex TT5 arrived yesterday with Firmware Version 5.0 and have been working just fine with a 5D MkII and 580EXII. The TT5 came with a special shoe and a metallic-lined sock to go around the strobe, both designed to deal with electronic noise from the 580, but neither were needed. Maybe I was just lucky to get a noise-free strobe, or maybe Canon has licked the problem. Whatever, the PW's have been firing off the strobe every time.

Without the AC5 my 580EXII will not fire if I'm 20' away from the 580EXII. However with the AC5 I got over 180' and no misfires after 6 shots. So you may be one of the lucky one that got a very good copy of the 580EXII.

My 580EX (not II) is good w/o the sock for about 100'. The sock does improve it. The 430 is good w/o the sock for 10' max. With sock 100'+. The old 550 is 100'+. They just don't make um like they used to.

I got my pw a week or two before v5 came out and I did have some problems. Once v5 was loaded I have been very happy, works great.

I have 580mkII's and they were giving 20' max. Had to blag AC5 from the distributor as here in the UK they are not given free. With AC5 done 150' no problem so if Canon sort the RF noise system will be better..
That said, what freedom to have radio wireless TTL - loving being able to use 200mm outside & combining flash!

Using the hot shoe cord (Canon 3' or others) and putting the FlexTT5 a relatively short distance away has worked very consistently for my 580EXII/5dMK2.
I'm one of those that only bought FlexTT5 units since they do both jobs and have external antennas - less of an issue if one unit fails on a shoot.

I put the sock on and it improved my performance to.
